South Dakota State Loan Programs
Community Home Improvement Program (CHIP)
Through the CHIP, loans ranging from $500 to $15,000 may be available for the purpose of making critical repairs to the borrower's existing home. Interest rates vary depending on location and income.
Employer Mortgage Assistance Program (EMAP)
Homebuyers who are employed with a participating employer may use the EMAP to secure a second mortgage to help with the up-front costs of purchasing their home. The interest rate is fixed at 2 percent, the term is 5 years, and the loan amounts can range from $600 to $6,000. If used in conjunction with the First-Time Homebuyer first mortgage, payments may be combined and the same eligibility requirements apply.
First-Time Homebuyer Program
Attractive financing terms become available to first-time homebuyers in South Dakota who work with this program. Income and purchase price limits apply.
Foreclosure Prevention Counselors
We are approved by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide counseling, education and advice in housing issues to new and existing homeowners.
Loan Assistance Program (LAP)
This program helps lower-income homebuyers with down payment and closing costs in the form of a second mortgage. Loan amounts range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on need. The interest rate is fixed at 5 percent, the term ranges from 5 to 10 years, and the payments are lumped in with the payments on the first mortgage. Income and purchase price limits apply.
