North Carolina State Loan Programs
FirstHome Mortgage
First-time homebuyers may qualify for a low-interest, 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage through the FirstHome program. Down payment assistance is available in the form of a second mortgage, with options for the homeowner. Those with financial need may choose a zero-interest deferred second mortgage, providing that $1,000 is paid out of pocket. Loans are available to low-income homebuyers for up to $8,000 and to middle-income homebuyers for up to $4,000. A third option is reserved for new construction and offers a second mortgage for up to $25,000.
Foreclosure Prevention Counselors
We are approved by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide counseling, education and advice in housing issues to new and existing homeowners.
Home Protection Program
This program offers loans to homeowners who have lost their jobs due to the economic downturn. The loan is meant to pay the mortgage while the homeowner makes arrangements for other sources of income. Counseling is also available, and can help the homeowner examine options and plan for the future.
