Emergency Repair Program

Low-income homeowners whose properties need safety-related improvements may apply for a loan through the Emergency Repair Program. If the homeowner's furnace, roof, electrical system, or other critical function becomes disabled, KHRC will issue a check for up to $7,500 to an approved contractor for the repairs.

First Time Home Buyers Program

Kansas residents can use this program to help with the down payment on their first home. Depending on their income level, borrowers may receive up to 20 percent of their home's purchase price in the form of a second mortgage. Program recipients must come up with the greater of $500 or 2 percent of the home's price from their own funds.

Foreclosure Prevention Counselors

We are approved by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide counseling, education and advice in housing issues to new and existing homeowners.

Homeowner Rehabilitation Program

Through this program, communities in certain areas of Kansas may apply for grant assistance to bring local homes up to the standards of local building code. The grants, which are not available to individual homeowners, are made to the city or county applicant, which in turn uses the grant (up to $300,000) to administer a loan program for low-income residents whose homes need repairs.

Kansas Accessibility Modification Program (KAMP)

This is a statewide grant program which is available to eligible households with disabled residents who need additional safety and mobility features added to the home. Homeowners may receive up to $7,500 for the necessary repairs. Income limits and other requirements apply.

Kansas Housing Development Grant Program

This state grant program provides assistance to communities who are building or rebuilding housing developments, especially due to natural disasters.

Kansas Manufactured Housing Program (MHP)

This HUD-certified program assists Kansas mobile homeowners with maintenance of health and safety issues.

Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)

Funded in part by the US Department of Energy, this grant program is available to non-profit agencies who wish to help families in need by making their homes more energy-efficient.
