Foreclosure Prevention Counselors

We are approved by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide counseling, education and advice in housing issues to new and existing homeowners.

Manufactured Home Program

This program assists borrowers with financing for Type II manufactured housing. Maximum loan amounts apply.

Non-Conforming Program

For borrowers who have trouble qualifying for other financing assistance due to the nature of their home's construction, the Non-Conforming Program provides more favorable loan terms. Refinancing is also available, but only if the borrower's original loan was with this program.

Refinance Program

Whether or not the original loan was financed by AHFC, the Refinance Program allows applicants to obtain new financing to improve their loan terms or improve their home.

Rural Non-Owner Occupied Loan Program

This program assists with the cost of purchasing certain types of rental properties in small communities. There are no allowances for commercial activity with this program.

Rural Owner Occupied Loan Program

Residents of small communities may use the Rural Owner Occupied Loan Program to secure financing assistance with the purchase or construction of residential housing. Up to 25 percent of the housing may be allocated to commercial use.

Second Mortgage Program

The Second Mortgage Program allows borrowers to secure funds for home improvement projects and some home purchases under certain conditions. Loan restrictions apply.

Second Mortgage Program for Energy Conservation

Upon completion of an energy audit of their residence, AHFA borrowers may use this program's financing to make their home more energy-efficient. Limits on loan terms apply.

Second Mortgage Program for Health and Safety Repair

This program helps current AHFC borrowers with immediate health and/or safety concerns obtain financing for the necessary repairs. Compliance with loan limits and approval of repairs are required.

Small Building Material Loan

The Small Building Material Loan provides financing for the materials involved in energy-efficient or functional home improvements on properties in small communities. Loan limits apply.

Streamline Refinance Program

Current AHFC borrowers may refinance their loans through the Streamline Refinance Program. Original owner-occupancy required; current owner-occupancy is not. Appraisals and credit checks may not be necessary in most cases.

Tax-Exempt First-Time Home Buyer Program

The Tax-Exempt Program (TEP) is for qualified first-time home buyers who would be helped by low mortgage interest rates. Income and purchase price limits apply.

Tax-Exempt Program (TEP)

The Tax-Exempt First-Time Home Buyer Program is offered by the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation.

Taxable First-Time Home Buyer

If you exceed the income and purchase price limits of the TEP, this first-time home buyer program can help you with a reduced interest rate on your mortgage.

Taxable Program

The Taxable Program is a general mortgage loan assistance program for applicants or properties not meeting the particular requirements of other AHFC programs.

Veterans Mortgage Program

Qualified veterans or active military personnel may benefit from the Veterans Mortgage Program. Veterans may contact any federal veteran's agency or an approved lender for more information on how to get better terms on a new mortgage.
